Edit->User Preferencesmenu item to bring up the
User Preferenceswindow. This window consists of five tabs.

Show Dashboard on Startand
Show help tip dialogcheckboxes allow you to control what windows are shown automatically.
When opening a bundlesection allows you to control the behavior of the IDV when a bundle is opened.

Remove when window is closed, when checked, will have the display control be removed when the window is deleted (with the "X").
Formats and Datatab.
Preferred time zonetime zone.
Latitude/Longitudeformat to a higher precision, e.g. "##0.00000"
Probe formatis an html template for displaying data probe results. Try mousing over the text field to show a tooltip that describes the format.
Distance Unitis used for distances.
Sampling modeis used in the displays to determine how grids are sampled.
Max Image Sizeand
Grid Cache Threshold.
Main Displaytab. These are preferences used in the map display to determine clipping, wireframe display, background color, etc.
Show Overview Map.
Show Earth Navigation Panel.
Color Schemeto something of your liking.
Navigationtab. This allows you to define different mouse and key bindings.
Toolbartab. This allows you top define what toolbar icons are shown on the toolbar.
