Table of Contents:

Introduction to Overlaying Images

The Australian Bureau of Meteorology (ABoM) has developed routines that allow McIDAS users to overlay imagery on top of any navigated display. These applications are new in Unidata McIDA-X v2002.

Overlaying in the Graphics Plane

The FRMOLAY command allows you to do overlay RAW radar or general BRIT values from an image available by ADDE on top of any navigated McIDAS frame.
Type: IMGDISP GINICOMP/GSN8KIR STA=TWX EU=IMAGE REFRESH='ERASE G;MAP H'
Type: FRMOLAY NEXRCOMP/6KN0R-NAT UNIT=BRIT RAN='3:85,86:96,97:107,108:119,120:130,131:141,142:153,154:164,165:175,176:187,188:198,199:209,210:221,222:232,233:243,244:255' INT=0 GU=RADAR16_32

Compositing Images in an AREA

The IMGOLAY command allows you to composite RAW radar or general BRIT values from an image available by ADDE in an AREA file.
Type: IMGOLAY RTIMAGES/GE-IR MYDATA/IMAGES.1234 NEXRCOMP/6KN0R-NAT UNIT=BRIT RAN='3:85,86:96,97:107,108:119,120:130,131:141,142:153,154:164,165:175,176:187,188:198,199:209,210:221,222:232,233:243,244:255' SCRATCH=MYDATA/IMAGES.1233 INT=0 LAT=35 85 SIZE=1000 1000
