7.0.1.0.0 Data requirements

To run the Production Situation 1 model, you require the following data:

For the weather data, the following values are required for each day in a year:

Maximum temperature
Minimum temperature
Precipitation (not used in PS1)
Relative humidity (can optionally be used)
Evaporation (not used in PS1)
Sun hours
Evapotranspiration (not used in PS1).

A weather data file also contains the location of a weather station. We will inspect weather data files later, in the India groundnut case study.


For the crop data a number of variables are required, such as:

Tsumheat requirement for full development
T0threshold temperature for development
C3/C4photosynthetic mechanism
SLAspecific leaf area
keextinction coefficient for visible light
r(org)relative maintenance respiration rates
Tleafheat sum for full development of leaf tissue
Ec(org)efficiency of conversion
fr(org)mass fraction of Fgass allocated to organ 'org'

For the management data, only 3 values are required:

Planting day or germination dayDay number when crop starts growing above ground
Start values for organ massesS(leaf) at the planting day or germination day
